Samsung’s SWD-M100 Mondi, which the company claims would be the first handheld WiMAX device for the States. It has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a D-Pad and a touchscreen. No official announcement or pricing on this device yet. But going by how Nokia’s internet tablet fared, it would be interesting to see what kind of reception Samsung would receive for its handheld

ASUS to add optical drives to Netbooks?

Asus is at it again – The Original netbooker is planning to create mass hysteria by planning to include optical drives in netbooks.

Asus is scheduled to launch its new Eee PC, the E1004DN, which will be the first Eee PC to have an optical disc drive in mid-April, and will follow with the 1008HA in March.

The E1004DN is built with an Intel Atom N280 CPU paired with GN40 chipset, a 120GB hard drive, and will carry a suggested retail price of NT$18,000-20,000 (US$531-590).

BlackBerry App world to launch on Apr 1st?

Unless its an April fool prank from BusinessWeek, BlackBerry’s App world is set to launch on April 1st. No doubt an exciting news as this would be a good test of RIM’s true potential vis-a-vis Apple. Whether this would be a success, we’ll have to wait and see.

Asus dethrones Apple on computer reliability

The quarterly RESCUECOM Computer Reliability Report revealed a new leader in reliable personal computers. Asus took the top slot with IBM/LENOVO. The previous leader Apple slipped into second place. The PCs reported to have the strongest reliability scores are as follows:

N110 is Samsung’s NC10 successor

Samsung has announced the success for N110 netbook, the NC10. Most of the specs remain the same but has a bigger battery topping eight hours and a better usable touchpad. At $469, a good choice for those who want a more stylized-looking netbook.

Acer Fold/Unfold notebook to cost $1000-$1500

An interview with Asus CEO Jerry Shen has revealed that Asus plans to unveil the fold/unfold laptop by Sep/Oct 09 which would retail for about $1000-$1500.

The notebook has a keyboard that slides backwards as the screen is opened maximizing room for the keys, trackpad and palm rest. Certainly an interestenting development to watch.

The gaming industry sales are inversely proportional to the recession graph. According the latest report, the sales of the consoles and games are climbing 10% over January to $733.5 mil with Wii leading the pack. If someone’s planning on developing a new game titled gloom and doom, might even end up profiting from the tales of recession and probably the only one to make money during these hard times.

AT&T to offer IPhone 3G with no contract

AT&T to offer IPhone 3G with no contract and activation fee from March 26 onwards. This option will only be available for AT&T customers and for a price, the 8 GB model for $599 and 16 GB for $699.

As it is available only for AT&T customers, the question of whether it will be a success arises and also the price of the no-contract phone seems a bit high.
